Testimonial 1
Caroline,
Home Schooling Mom,
Athens, GA
In 1998, I was 22-years-old and visiting my family. We were asked by the neighbors, the "S" family, to be local contacts for their Home
Exchange family. We were very happy to help both families in whatever
way they needed. Well, as it turned out, our families became great friends with the "D" family during their two week stay in South
Carolina. The "D" family from Ascot, England, traveled with their three teenage children and Kath, the grandmother! My siblings were
the same age as the three "D" children, so a fun time was had for them. One of the highlights was hearing Kath's stories of London
during WWII.
Well, it's now 2008 and what became of that friendship? Three weeks after that 1998 beach trip, I was in their home in Ascot! Before
meeting them I already had a job lined up in England, so they picked me up at the airport, hosted me for a few days, and then took me to my
job.
A few years later, my husband and I stayed with them during our trip to Ascot. A year later they visited us and our one-year-old son here
in Georgia. A year after that we vacationed together in Prague, Czech
Republic!
Now we have an invitation to visit them in Singapore! Also, over the years my Dad has called on Dr. "D" as an expert witness for some his
his marine law cases.
My advice is to find a hospitable family or two as contacts for your Exchange family while they are in your city. They might have
questions for locals without wanting to burden you with a phone call. I am so grateful that the "S" family asked us to be the contacts for
the "D" family!
As you can see, I love Home Exchange and can't wait to take part in it
with my family!
